This heartwarming story is about Abby and Cliff, a compassionate couple who performed a selfless act by rescuing a neglected dog. While visiting the Great Wall of China, the couple came across a Tibetan Mastiff living in dire conditions. The dog, later named Wally, was confined to a cage without water, surrounded by snow, and clearly suffering. He was believed to be a guard dog who had been severely neglected.
Abby and Cliff couldn’t turn a blind eye. They looked at each other and knew they had to help. They convinced Wally’s owners to let him go and immediately took him to a vet.
After getting him examined and cleaned up—his severely matted fur had to be shaved—they contacted “Bunny’s Buddies,” a non-profit organization that helps rescue and rehome animals from Asia.
Wally soon flew to the USA, where he began a new chapter of his life. Experiencing comfort for the first time, Wally loved lying on soft carpets and his cozy bed, reluctant to get up. His transformation was remarkable; the once-neglected dog blossomed into a stunning Tibetan Mastiff with a thick, fluffy brown coat.
When he was rescued, he weighed 75 pounds, but with proper care and love, he grew to 135 pounds, radiating health and happiness. Wally quickly became a beloved member of the family, bringing joy and laughter to everyone.
Then, Abby and Cliff received wonderful news: they were expecting a baby. When their daughter Annika arrived, Wally instinctively embraced his new role as her protector and companion.
Wally acted like a big brother to Annika, always staying close to her. Annika adored him, and their bond grew stronger each day. Every morning, she would light up with excitement when Wally jumped onto the bed. She loved crawling over to him, climbing on him, and even sharing her food with her furry best friend.
The bond between Wally and Annika is a testament to the love and loyalty of rescued animals. Together, they are the perfect picture of friendship and family.
