Donny Osmond Bids Farewell to Family Before Kicking Off His Summer Tour
Donny Osmond, the iconic entertainer who rose to fame as a teen heartthrob in the 1970s, remains as busy as ever, juggling his career and his beloved family. The 66-year-old performer, who has five sons and 14 grandchildren, recently shared a heartwarming moment on Instagram before embarking on his three-month Direct from Las Vegas tour across North America.
As a father and grandfather, Osmond values the time spent with his family. In an interview with People, he emphasized that family is his top priority despite his hectic schedule. “That’s what balances my life out. Family is the most important thing, because the curtain will come down eventually, and then what do you have?”
Ahead of his departure, Osmond treated his social media followers to a glimpse of his time with his grandchildren. In a photo posted on Instagram, he is seen enjoying a playful swim in the pool with his grandkids and a giant inflatable peacock.
The caption read: “Enjoying a final swim at home with my grandkids before the long US summer tour begins this Friday in Milwaukee. By the way, thanks to Sue Pearson from Leeds in the UK who gave me that inflatable peacock during my tour over there. We’ve had so much fun with it. Speaking of fun, I’ll see you all real soon on my US summer tour.”
Fans flooded the comments section, praising Osmond as a devoted family man and expressing excitement for his tour. One fan wrote, “So this is how you stay looking young, Donny—your happiness and precious family make you smile, and that’s why you’re always happy on stage.” Another commented on the adorable moment with his grandchildren, saying, “What a beautiful picture of you and your grandbabies. Can’t wait to see you [in] Louisville.”
Others couldn’t resist referencing the inflatable peacock, a nod to Osmond’s appearance on The Masked Singer, where he performed disguised as a peacock. “Love the peacock…you should have won!!!!” one follower exclaimed.
Osmond’s career remains as vibrant as ever. Following his successful 11-year Las Vegas residency with his sister Marie, he launched his first solo residency at Harrah’s Hotel and Casino in 2019. This residency will resume in fall 2024. His solo show, described as a “dynamic, energy-filled musical journey” through his life, has received rave reviews.
But before returning to his residency, Osmond has a packed schedule. This summer, he’s bringing the Direct from Las Vegas show to venues across North America, performing in 41 cities.
Once the tour concludes, he will fly to the UK for a limited run of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Osmond, who starred as Joseph in over 2,000 performances of the musical from 1992 to 1998, is now stepping into the role of Pharaoh.
“I always knew I would return to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” Osmond shared on X (formerly Twitter). “Having starred as Joseph in over 2,000 performances in this magical musical, I am now ready to channel my inner Elvis and assume the role of Pharaoh in Edinburgh starting this December [2024].”
For Osmond, balancing a legendary career with family life is a testament to his dedication and love for both. As he takes the stage for his summer tour, fans eagerly await the opportunity to see the multi-talented entertainer in action.
Whether performing as Pharaoh, singing his greatest hits, or sharing cherished moments with his grandchildren, Osmond’s energy and passion remain as captivating as ever.
