The skating rink was closing. The lights above the ice blinked twice, and Alisa began gliding backward with her arms spread wide, looking like someone whose life was going wonderfully. Yegor hobbled after her, clinging to the barrier and pretending it was part of his strategy. The ice crunched beneath their skates as the music […]

The anniversary celebration ended well, which in itself felt like a small miracle. The candles were blown out on the first try, the cake with the golden number arrived intact, and no one argued over where they were sitting at the table. Ksenia was on her way home in the lightest mood she had been […]

She sat down across from Margarita’s desk and crossed her legs. Everything about her expressed complete confidence that she was in […]

The green football field flickered across the screen, casting its glow over the guests as they ate. Uncle Fedya was enthusiastically helping himself to salad, occasionally […]

— Who the hell are you to tell me what to do? Nothing here belongs to you! Do you understand? No-thing! Igor’s voice cracked into a hoarse rasp. He hurled a heavy crystal tumbler onto the table with all his strength. It didn’t break, but rolled across the polished dark-oak tabletop with an ugly rattle […]
